About Shri. K. Ravindra Shetty

Shri K. Ravindra Shetty is an educational pioneer, social worker and an executive members of BJP Karnataka State Council. He is also Founder, President and Managing Director of VidyaRathna English Medium School at Deralakatte Mangalore.

Shri K. Ravindra Shetty was born at Ulidottu, Harekala Village of Mangalore Taluk, Dakshina Kannada District to progressive farmer Shri Koragappa Shetty and Shreemathi Kallekkaruguththu Rathnavathi Shetty on 22 October, 1971.

An educational entrepreneur, Shri K. Ravindra Shetty early in his career started Rathna Tutorial College in year 1992 in the name of his mother at the small village with the progressive development path Deralakatte in Lt. Dr. Balakrishna Mudya’s Building. This educational institution served as a place for realizing educational aspirations of many of the school drop outs in the region. In 1998, Shri K. Ravindra Shetty established Rathna Education Trust to start VidyaRathna English Medium School to enable children from rural backgrounds to get English medium education at affordable costs.

Even though the school has English as a medium of instructions, the school offers education that reflects Indian culture and incorporates traditions and values of Coastal Karnataka. Bharata Naatya, Yakshagana, folklore dance training as well as karate, yoga, visual arts and computer trainings are provided. To impart leadership and discipline in students has opportunity to join Scouts & Guides Association, School Parliament, Eco Club, Science Club, Literacy Club and other clubs. Shri K. Ravindra Shetty won accolades by facilitated many of Education Ministry run ‘Prathibha Karanjee’ and Sports competitions at Cluster, Hobali, Taluk levels in school premise.

In year 2009-10, K. Ravindra Shetty founded VidyaRathna Educational Institute, organized and successfully celebrated ‘Decennial Celebration’ inviting Honorable Home Minister of Govt. of Karnataka, Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assembly, scholars and leaders. Every year, Shri Shetty honors pioneers and leaders in education field by giving ‘VidyaRathna Award’. VidyaRathna school with its community oriented activities and celebrations has garnered appreciation from the people.

In addition, Shri K. Ravindra Shetty served as President of Rotary Club, Deralakatte and organized community services oriented events like helping financially poor families with Solar light, free eye care testing and eye wear event, health awareness event, agriculture informational event, honoring progressive agriculturist and book distribution events among others and won the best club award among 8 districts in Coastal Karnataka.

‘Rathnothsava’, a cultural and literature symposium of Coastal Karnataka has garnered support and accolades from the people of the region. In addition, he supports and funds various club, society and associations activities in the region.
